About Timothy
“I’m interested in international issues, but more importantly on how to match globalization with local realities. If you believe in the future of Africa, and that she can rise above her challenges, then we friends”!
-Timothy Ogene (1984- )
Timothy Ogene is one of those young Nigerians that passionately believe in Project Nigeria. His belief that Nigeria will, in the nearest future, be one of the greatest nations on earth is always on an all time high. This is reflected in his involvement with both local and international projects aimed at accelerating development in Nigeria and Africa at large.
When I look at my background, I simply hold my head up high and keep moving, my background is already at my Back and on the Ground, the future lies ahead of me…I just won’t mess it up by God’s grace.
-Timothy Ogene (1984- )
Born in a semi-urban area in the outskirts of Port Harcourt, Timothy is the sixth child in a family of seven children. He grew up in a poor neighborhood and had a first hand experience of what it means to be poor materially and saw how poverty like a war can destroy the future of young people. At a very young age, he realized that one has to create the future he wants to see. By reading great authors like Anthony Robins, John Maxwell, Steven Covey, Myles Munroe, Peter Drucker, Zig Zigler, Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie and others, he developed his mind to look beyond where he was… a mental detachment from his local reality.
At 16 Timothy developed an unusual interest in the political and economic realities of Africa. This he attributes to three factors;
- The old Transistor radio his father gave him with which he tunes in to major local and international news channels J
- His love for the works of African authors like, Prof. Chinua Achebe, T.M Aluko, Prof Wole Soyinka, Cyprien Ekwensi, Gabriel Okara, Prof. J.P Clark, Ola Rotimi and others that reflect these realities, past and present.
- His neighbour a self acclaimed political analyst who studied Political Science at the University of Nigeria Nssuka
…he was always seen debating and exchanging view with adults on the way forward for Nigeria and Africa.
Vision
To be an active contributor to the socio-economic and political transformation of the African continent.

“…I want to leave my life to make a statement that change is possible and when I’m long gone, I would want to look down from Heaven and see someone somewhere saying ‘Timothy was a great thinker, doer, strategist, role model… he changed a lot here and we are better for it’.

Hi Tim, Great work. keep it up.
I am a young Nigerian Nature Conservationist. With over eight years of good success stories and participation at loccal, national and international forum.
I am the initiator of Local Action Global Change. A small conservation group commited to promoting local actions in local places to bring a positive global change.
I did a small pilot conservation project in Niger Delta this year and will hopefully be doing a more comprehensive one in 2008.
I am presently in the United States, but hope to be in Nigeria next year for a project. I feel it will be nice to see if you can be of assistance during the project next year.
You can see my profile on TakingitGlobal. My screen name is Idrufem. I will expect your email (idrufem@yahoo.com) so we can further discuss. I will try to add u online.

Dear Tim,
An average African Child is a child of promise. Yet, environment can raise its ugly head. That you could rise above the challenges of our puerile and roughshod terrain is what i actually admire in you.
Also, I was born in 1984. Feb 9 precisely.
I strongly suggest that you try to get into academics. It will greatly facilitate the achievement of your “Obamaic” dreams.
We shall surely get there.!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amen.
P.S.
for instance, you could be considered fot the Ford Foundation Scholarship, the form is actually out. I intend to communicate more with you if you dont mind. My E-mail is attached above.
Thanks for reading.
